WELCOME AMBER @MY.LITTLE.CUTIE.PIES

We are so excited to introduce you to Amber, a mum of two with a passion for photography who enjoys styling her kids rooms as a creative outlet.

Welcome Amber, Please tell us a bit about yourself and your family.

My name is Amber and I'm mother of two little boys, Tucker who is 4 and Woody who is 2.  I am the face behind @misspiedesigns and work from home when the boys are sleeping. I also manage to fit in some photography and styling as a creative outlet for me.

When did you first get interested in kids interiors?

I first started out styling products for my business and really enjoyed styling the kids rooms. So I just kept styling and redecorating my boys rooms from there.

What styles or themes inspire you?

At the moment I love boho and Moroccan decor. The styles I love have changed a lot since Tucker was first born.

What has been your favourite room to style to date?

The boys rooms have been my favourite rooms to style and I love their rooms equally. Perhaps I’ll put some effort to my own room soon and start styling other rooms in the home.

What challenges have you faced when styling kids interiors?

We currently live in a rental so I don’t have the full freedom to do what I want. Wall decals have been really great in transforming the boys rooms without damaging the walls.

What is your go-to place for inspiration and ideas?

I get inspo from other Instagram accounts. I love Raffaella @everyday.muse and Sarah @thebearcubclub styling and find so much inspiration and ideas from their beautiful feeds.

What is your favourite feature in your boys rooms at the moment?

My favourite feature is definitely the refurbished wardrobe in Tuckers room which was a great Facebook marketplace find.

How does your child's room represent their personality?

Woody loves his play kitchen. I painted it for him to match the colour and theme in the rest of his room. Tucker is a happy kid and whenever he get some new decor he says "Oh I love it, its the best" or "My special new..." There is plenty of storage for his toys and that's all he cares about right now.

How did you decide on a theme for your kids room?

I don't have a set theme for their rooms as it’s constantly evolving. I just start with colours I like and build the rest of the room from there.

What are your top three tips for someone planning a kids room makeover?

1. Create a mood board, research and find things you love and see how they look when matched together.
2. Get creative and try your hand at a little DIY with refurbished gum tree or marketplace items.
3. Wall decals - they are so much fun to use, I like to start with the decals and plan my ideas around them.
